Formicidae

The narrative motifs of Black Romanticism focus on the abysmal and the mysterious. The goal is to evoke irrational fears, superstitious notions, or madness. The series ‘Formicidae’ visualizes this aesthetic by creating a specific spatial constellation in which humans and ants enter into an underground, state-forming symbiosis. In this way, the dualistic model of opposing systems of nature and culture is dissolved, and a new, synergistically interacting superorganism emerges.
