Strata of Humanity – Algorithmic Prayer

This submission consists of a series of still images and accompanying text exploring the metaphor of civilization as a living accumulation of culture, science, and emotion. Each figure represents a layered being — a synthesis of organic and artificial forms — embodying the sediment of human intention: inventions, rituals, languages, and dreams preserved across time.

Through generative AI, I sought to reconstruct these strata not as nostalgia but as a new digital organism born from collective memory. The imagery was produced entirely through iterative text-to-image generation using Midjourney v7, guided by conceptual prompts written by the artist. Each prompt was refined repeatedly to balance algorithmic precision with human sensitivity. AI was not used as automation, but as a medium of reflection, a creative partner capable of reorganizing fragments of memory into new forms of meaning.

No post-processing was performed, and no external artworks, datasets, or stylistic references were used. Every visual form emerged directly from the generative process itself, ensuring authenticity and originality.

The fusion of skin and garment symbolizes the convergence of body, culture, and data — the transformation of humanity’s layered history into a contemplative digital prayer. The work proposes that even as technology abstracts the human form, the essence of prayer — the act of layering thought upon thought — continues to resonate silently within code.
